Happiness of life is sound health. Health is depending upon dietary habits and proper life style. Food which nourishes the body may become the cause for any diseases. Ayurved has suggested proper dietetics and lifestyle to maintain sound health.
Looking to the definition of health according to Ayurved “ who is physically as well as psychologically sound , and who’s soul , sense, organs and mind is pleased is healthy” .To achieve sound health and to maintain sound health Ayurved has laid stress on proper living day (Dincharya), night (Ratricharya), and season (Rutucharya). For perfect mental health Sadachar (good conduct) is to be practiced. Social hygiene occupies an important position in our life.
Dincharya ( daily routine )
This comprises the daily routine during day time right from getting up from bed to the time of going to bed.
Ayurved has suggested getting up early in the morning. At Bhahma Muhurta (before sunrise). Half a glass of water kept in copper vessel, over night taken at the time of getting up which will cause a free passage of motion and urine. It is necessary to inculcate the habit of easing in the morning. A tendency to suppress the natural urges (Vegaavarodh) is the root cause of many diseases.
Every morning after thinking of self health, cleaning the teeth, tongue and mouth should be ensured. Teeth may be clean by astringent material (tooth powder) .The oil massage on the gums will strengthen the teeth and gums. The tongue should be scraped by a washed tongue cleaner.
Daily oil massage on the whole body will keep skin healthy and the muscle of the body becomes strong. For daily body massage Til tail (sesame oil) or Sarshap tail (mustard oil) Can be used. Medicated oils may also be used. Oil massage ensures softness and unctuousness of skin, free movement of joints and muscles, increased blood circulation.
Daily regular exercise is essential to maintain perfect health. Regular exercise brings up stamina and resistance against the diseases, clears the channels of circulation and increases the blood circulation and efficiency of lungs.
Ayurved has suggested taking bath with warm water daily twice. Bath increases digestion power and cleans the skin.
Diet should be regulated according to individuals constitution, place of residence, season etc. Diet should be planned to include six Rasa (taste) and balanced in quantity according to the digestive capacity. One should not take food materials which unwholesome to him and in excessive quantity.
Sleep is the most important for maintaining the sound health and longevity for the human being. One should go in bed at regular time and in soft and comfortable bed. Sleep is for overcoming wear and tear of the body due to physical work and mental stress and loss of tissues.
Sexual act is the natural urge for the living creatures. Thus, Ayurved has suggested some essential regulations on this activity. Over indulgence in sexual act is harmful for the health. Sexual act should be performed during night time. After perform sexual act rest is necessary. The lithotomic positing is the best for sexual act. Masturbation, sodomy is very injurious to health.
Rutucharya :
Seasonal changes also bring about disease. The seasons are classified mainly by the movement of the sun. The main classification of season is six.

[3] Grishma rutu
[4] Varsha rutu
[5] Sharad rutu
[6] Hemant rutu .
Ayurved has suggested diet, clothing etc. According to the season, which may protect from the diseases.
Sadachar (good behaviar – good conduct)
:
it is necessary for the mental health and happiness. Everybody works for his happiness. Happiness should be shared with others. One should love his neighbors, well wishers and to remain away from enemies, vagabonds and loafers. One should keep away from sins viz. bodily, verbal and mental. One should help to needy, handicapped and cripples as best as possible. One should respect the intellectuals and the educated, elderly persons, guests and cows. One should live with humanity. One should talk properly and not excess and should not talk irrelevant. Enmity and insult should not be disclosed.
